PURPOSE/GOAL

“The Wrangler TEAM ROPING CHAMPIONSHIPS was formed to bring a professional atmosphere with a national sponsorship program to the amateur team roping industry.  For the first time ever, the amateur roper will be able to win sponsorships from national companies that until now, was only available to top ranked pros.  We want an association that will benefit the ropers, sponsors, producers, the Wrangler Team Roping Championships and the sport of team roping”.

Mission Statement

The WTRC Home Office is based in Billings, MT and produces team roping events in the Western United States.  The Wrangler National Team Roping Finals is held at the Metra Park Coliseum the later part of September, first part of October annually.  To qualify for the Wrangler Finals, a roper must enter and compete at one qualifying roping throughout the season.

The WTRC has a unique sponsorship program that benefits the ropers.  We wanted our members to benefit from National Corporate Sponsors just the same as Professional Team Ropers.  Let me explain how this happens.  When we negotiate contracts with companies such as Fast Back Ropes, Cactus Ropes, Boulet Boots, Montana Silversmiths just to name a few, we ask them for product, not cash.  This allows the WTRC to give this product to a WTRC Producer for the ropers to win at their event.  If the WTRC only accepted cash from the sponsors instead of product, the only one who would benefit from a sponsorship would be the WTRC and the sponsor.  Instead, the WTRC Members end up with every National Sponsor prize.  This program benefits the Roper, Sponsor, and the WTRC. 

If you are new to the WTRC let me explain our program.  Each event will have several different numbered ropings. You'll notice each roping will have a sponsor designated to a particular roping. Example:  #5  Boulet Boots, if you are the champions of this #5 you win the cash that is paid plus both Header and Heeler win a pair of Boulet Boots.  What an awesome deal for the roper.  These companies like Wrangler, Montana Silversmiths, Boulet Boots, Crooked Stirrups, Bailey Hats, Team Equine, Tarter, 4Ropers.Com, Heel-O-Matic, Cactus Saddlery, Pfizer Animal Health and Western Horseman all hope by supporting the ropers that you'll consider them when shopping.

Fast Back Ropes, Cactus Ropes, and Professional's Choice are arranged a little different.  Example:  If you are roping in any of these 3 ropings and using their product at the time of your 1st place win these companies will award you with a rope or equine boot sponsorship.

Wrangler Ropings are known for starting on time and keeping a good pace throughout the day.  Friendly and efficient secretaries always willing to help with ropers concerns such as finding partners and more.  Professional trained WTRC Announcers keep the roping moving, entertaining and are well informed of all the sponsor products.  

It is very important to the WTRC to produce professional fast paced exciting events with lots of prizes and mega payouts.

From 2006 to 2010 WTRC Sponsors have awarded 1.8 Million Dollars in Sponsor Product/Prizes to the winners at Wrangler Ropings, that's above and beyond the Cash payouts,
